Our Mission

The Malaysian Mirror is the latest addition, the newest kid on the block, of news portals in Malaysia.

It is the vision of our editorial board to see Malaysian Mirror growing to become a free, responsible and beautiful reflection of our unique Malaysian way of life, our core values of multi-ethnic harmony and the high degree of journalistic and literary excellence of which Malaysians are capable of.

We subscribe to a set of journalistic ethics that has guided quality newspapers around the world.

We are fully mindful of the power of the written word; it can indeed be mightier than the sword. We will exercise that power judiciously.

We will strive to be fair to all parties, in the way we present the news and in our op-ed columns. Our guide would be our conscience. The object of our allegiance is our country. The people we pledge to serve in our work will be the people of this country.

We offer the Malaysian Mirror as a common platform for Malaysians to voice out their views on anything they feel passionate about with the request they be courteous and sensible. We firmly believe when a hundred flowers bloom, our Malaysian social and cultural life can become much richer.

Although political and business news and social commentary will be our staples, like any good news portal should have, we intend to build a diversified content that will be helpful, useful and meaningful to Malaysians.

We are open to suggestions. If you have any idea that can contribute to our collective effort to make a difference, to move the country forward, do contact us. We want to make Malaysian Mirror, a mirror for all Malaysians.

We will endeavour to give special emphasis to Sarawak and Sabah. This is also in line with the wishes of Peninsular Malaysians who are starved of news and happenings in the two states. For too long now, the voices of the people of this vast eastern region have been muted in the national media despite their great significance to the economic and political life of the nation.

We will try our best, using this portal as a virtual bridge, to bring Sabah and Sarawak closer to the rest of the Malaysian nation and the rest of the nation to them. The heightened interest in them in the peninsula is an opportunity to build, new awareness of a shared future.

We hope Malaysians will travel with us on this journey, to rediscover and strengthen our faith in this nation.

These are lofty goals that we have set for ourselves. But then again, Malaysians deserve no less.
