KUALA LUMPUR - Homegrown fashion labels have gone global with the world's largest online shopping community, eBay, via its collaboration with the Malaysian International Fashion Alliance (Mifa).

Shoppers can now visit www.ebay.com.my/fashion and gain access to the latest designs from Asian Atelier, Eric Choong, Eclipse, Gallo, KN Key Ng, Nurita Harith, Stud, Tangoo, Tom Abang Saufi and William Liew.

The inaugural collaboration with Mifa is the latest effort by eBay Malaysia in forming valuable partnerships with key industry participants to extend the benefits of e-commerce, eBay said in a statement here on today.mifa.jpg

Fashion sells

Fashion is one of the most popular categories on eBay Malaysia with around 438 items of clothings and accessory items sold everyday.

"With an apparel business approaching US$5bil (RM17.5bil) annually and 89 million active users globally, eBay is thrilled to present Malaysian designers a new and innovative sales channel in today's competitive retail environment," said eBay Director for Southeast Asia, Allis Ghim.

Ghim said through online eBay stores with listings on international sites such as eBay.com, eBay.co.uk or eBay.com.au, designers would be able to reach a broader international audience in a low-cost and effective way.

Greater exposure

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation's Director of Product Section, Wan Norma Wan Daud, said the partnership between eBay and Mifa was timely particularly in the current economic climate.

"With eBay, some of Malaysia's finest fashion labels will be able to gain international exposure besides expand their sales channels beyond Malaysia to the world," she said. - Bernama
