SIBU – Police have yet to come up with any new lead on the attack of state DAP chairman Wong Ho Leng's wife who was splashed with liquid last Friday.
State OCCI head, Huzir Mohamed (pic) who was in Sibu to chair a meeting with the Sibu police on the case said he viewed such attack seriously and sternly advised the people not to take the law into their own hands.
Huzir said Sibu police had interviewed Wong's wife, Irene Chang, but there was no new lead as both husband and wife were not aware of what motive triggered the attack.
"We are investigating from all angles, be it political or criminal as both are lawyers," he said.
No stones unturned
Huzir also asked eye-witnesses to come forward to help the police. Their identity would be kept confidential.
He said police would leave no stones unturned to investigate the case.
Irene Chang had on Friday morning sent her daughter and son to school and was getting into the car when she was splashed. She said she felt a burning sensation on her skin. There were two holes in the car seat when the acidic liquid spilled on it.
Wong's house had been attacked twice last year when firebombs were thrown into his house compound. He said police had been helpful but have yet to get anyone.
