PETALING JAYA – Anwar Ibrahim’s former private secretary, Anuar Shaari, has been asked to come forward to help the authorities trace fugitive blogger Raja Petra Raja Kamaruddin.
This follows a recent statement by the political aide that a certain ‘Aasil Kazi Ahmad’, said to be a Pakistani with an American citizenship, could help the police investigations into the case involving Raja Petra.
Anuar had reportedly said that Aasil has been regularly in touch with Raja Petra, who is accused of publishing on his Malaaysia Today blog in April 2008 an artcile implicating Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosnah Mansor, in the Altantuya Shaarriibbu murder case.
Deputy IGP: Use proper channel
Deputy Inspector-General Ismail Omar said Anuar should use the correct channel to voice his suspicion instead of using the media to expose any information he has that can help the pokuice case, he told Malay news portal mStar here.
"If there is any information, come to the police..don’t use the media,” he said when contacted by the on-line paper.
“Furthermire,” he added, “if such information is true, it could hinder the police investigations as everyone would also know of it.
Ismail said the police will investigate every clue and information available to trace Raja Petra’s whereabouts.
“ Help us by officially informing us...we will investigate,” he said.
Believed to have fled abroad
The police believe Raja Petra has fled abroad, using invalid travel documents.
There had been unconfirmed rumours that he was hiding in an apartment at Gloucester Bayswater in London.
The blogger, popularly known as RPK, went missing after two warrants of arrest were issued, on April 23 and May 25 last year, when he failed to turn up in court to face charges of defaming Rosmah in his article titled Let's Send the Altantuya Murderers to Hell, which appeared on the news portal on April 25. – Malaysian Mirror
